Teaching autistic preschoolers requires a set of skills most of us were never taught.
Teaching autistic preschoolers requires a set of skills most of us were never taught.
The truth is, most teacher preparation programs never covered what you're actually facing in the classroom every day.
You didn't get a roadmap for presuming competence, modeling AAC without expectation, or understanding that regulation and connection are the foundation that everything is built on.
You care deeply about doing right by your students, and you're ready to stop figuring it out alone and start getting the tools you actually need.

You care deeply about doing right by your students, and you're ready to stop figuring it out alone and start getting the tools you actually need.
But finding professional development specifically designed for supporting autistic preschoolers isn't easy.
Most PD is too general, too theoretical, or just not built for the real moments you face every day.
And even when you find something good, turning it into actual classroom practice on your own, without support is a whole other challenge.

Autism Is A Journey,
Not A Tragedy
Presented by Cari Ebert, MS, CCC-SLP
In a world that too often frames autism as something to fix, cure, or overcome, speech/language pathologist, Cari Ebert, invites us to stop and ask a different question entirely: what if we've been measuring the wrong things?
In this powerful keynote, Cari challenges the deficit-based narratives that have shaped how we see, teach, and support autistic children and replaces them with something far more grounding. A deep, unwavering belief in the inherent worth of every child, exactly as they are.
Drawing on 30 years of experience and her own journey as the mother of an autistic son, Cari explores what it actually means to honor a child's humanity before their diagnosis, their potential before their deficits, and their joy before their compliance.
She'll ask us to examine the beliefs we've inherited about what autistic children should be doing, saying, and becoming — and invite us to lay some of those beliefs down.
This session is not about lowering expectations. It is about raising our understanding of what it means to be human, to belong, and to be worthy of connection, not because of what you can do, but because of who you are.
You will leave this keynote seeing your students differently. And you may leave seeing yourself differently too.
